They are both great tools and there is a ton of information on both in this forum. There is a world of difference between HP Tuners and the Predator. If I did my own tuning, HP Tuners would definitely be my choice, but I don’t really have the knowledge, experience or time to due my own tuning - wish I did. I happily pay a performance shop to tune my car, and of course, the tuner uses HP Tuners. I'm originally from the sleepy little town of Whitehall and understand what you're talking about with the lack of performance / tuner shops particularly understand the part about being lucky to have flushing toilets. I still call Montana home, although I haven't lived there for a couple decades. Seems that the Aussie Gauge Pod kit is the only one that has the matching Gauge faces, the same color and style bezel as the factory Pontiac Gauges (Yellow). Is the only way to read the actual Oil Temp and Pressure via the JHT (?) Aftermarket Plug -n-Play supplemental gauge pod kit? While the text was small for my old eyesight, it was available. It was cool to use the on-board dash screen via the two top buttons, to get the digital tach and temp gauge. Perhaps, with at least the Diablo thing, I can get emailed parameter files to load into the tuner, than into the ECM, from a techie who can tweak for things I've done or request? I assume that there would be a service charge associated with each file write?ĭoes either unit provide real time diagnosis from the OBD II? Or should I also buy one of those real time scanner things? Now while I do understand that even a miss-set timing issue can be detrimental to the motor, does the HP Tuner come with an extensive user's guide, or do they imply/assume that you already have experience messing with these parameter files?

I guess I intend to agree, that I might soon outgrow the Diablosport thing, as the HP Tuner gives me much more to toy with. I see that it still is a 50/50 on which programmer to go with. SO, computer adjusting will also be required. Obviously, the fans aren't kicking on soon enough, after the Thermostat opens up. Sure enough, the 160 Thermostat didn't do much at all the temp still creeps up to 190, on a 75 degree day here, just driving around town. Okay, I installed the CAGS Jumper-that got rid of the annoying shift gate block, for the rarity that I accelerate that slowly. Hey gang, and thanks for replying so fast. 155 in fifth gear, and still 26 MPG (80 in 6th)? Wow. Please, unbiased suggestions on which tuner for a newbee, and any leads on sucessful shop(s) "near" here to go and get a recalibration done by someone who knows what they are doing?
Diablosport tuner how to#
As I am NOT a Tuner, but work on airplanes for a career, I need a tuning aid that doesn't assume I know anything or what all the acronyms mean, but I'd like to have tuning abilities to go play on the street/strip.ĭo I get a Diablosport Predator Tuner, or a HP Tuner? The HP Pro Tuner seems spendy and far advanced for me to have a clue how to use.

So, I apparently will need to buy my own tuning computer. I live in Montana, where there are undoubtedly no "Tuner Shops"-hell we are lucky to have flushing toilets in the Big Sky Country. Wow, old school was just enjoying that the damn engine ran cooler for better performance.

Now while the CAGS thing is a no-brainer, I read through the posts today, and it seems to not do much good to install the 160 Thermostat, without retuning the fan thermostat start/stop points and more. I did buy the CAGS elminator jumper plug and a 160 degree thermostat. I have installed Kooks Afterburners, and Rally Stripes and such. First of all: Please excuse my newbee status, not only to the website (awesome so far) but to this whole Tuning thing-my '05 LS2/M6 is my first performance car since my '90 Mustang GT.
